About the Harry Potter midnight premiere

“You’re such a nerd”

Is that supposed to be an insult?

Because of all my nerdy traits being a result

Of me.

Is that supposed to be a dis?

Because the definition of a nerd

Is an intellectual person

So find another comeback

That’s not hit or miss

Because depending on who you talk to

They will either push their broken glasses up their nose with their head down

Or wear them as a crown

Going up to all who will hear

Exclaiming that one joyful cheer

“NERD FIGHTERS UNITE!”

Under this one cause to change the way the world looks at us nerds

Because it is absurd

For the next Bill Gates to be called a nerd as an insult

It is time- to redefine ‘nerdy’

To be nerdy is to:

Dress up for midnight Harry Potter premieres because it’s fun

It’s rereading your favourite classics and still not be done

Getting your hands on all the paper backs you can

Just to teach yourself physics or psychology because you’re a fan

A fan of laughing at math because it’s far too easy

While you count on your fingers and ace the class

Those who can’t figure out how to work the calculator are the mass

And they ask us “how do you do it?”

And we reply “easy peezy lemon squeasy”

To be a nerd is to be a fan

Of the school paper, the debate team, or even the band

None of these activities get pep assemblies

But you’re addicted to the smell of freshly printed paper

Or the sound freshly tuned instruments

And we take humanities while being scoffed at by the idiots

Who say that we have no life

Well I challenge thee

Not with a knife

But with a pen- or would you prefer a thumb war?

And for your information- not that you can compute it

We do have boyfriends- you can’t refute it

But we don’t say, “I love you” to them

We, in our nerdy make out sessions, say “My brain releases dopamine around you!”

And yes they reply “I have noreponefrin around you too” aaaaaawwwww

We don’t go for the players or jocks

Because they seem to think that I want to be talked to dirty

If you want to get me then talk to me nerdy

Because we are redefining the nerd as sexy!

I’m talking I was up aaaaall night- playing Zelda sexy

I have a crazy accent and maybe a lisp sexy

And I am definitely talking “check out the curves on that parabola sexy”

We don’t spend our summers developing melanoma by tanning all the time

We spend our summers broadening our minds

Not by learning new cheat codes to be cool

I’m talking about advanced placement summer school!

So when you return on august 3rd talking about the narly surfing
